Jobell Cafe and Bistro in Wimberley, TX

Last week, I got the pleasure to visit Jobell Cafe and Bistro in Wimberley, TX and fell in love.  The food is elegant and delicious, without being pretentious.  The ambiance is quaint and charming, with a relaxed feel.  And the service is nothing but friendly and attentive.

Jobell Cafe and Bistro is located out in Wimberley, TX.  Wimberley is in the heart of Texas Hill Country and is great for wine tasting, bachelorette weekends, and romantic getaways.  If you spend some time in Wimberley, you must not complete your trip without trying out Jobell Cafe and Bistro!

When you arrive,

you’ll find a rustic, wooden house amongst a forest of trees.  The owner, David Bober, built and renovated the building himself.  Beautiful, right?

The atmosphere is casual but with a rustic, yet chic, decor.  The patio wraps around the building, adjacent to the trees, and is lit by delicate stringing lights.

There is a true family-owned feel to the restaurant.  Jobell Cafe is owned by David and Jessenia Bober– they moved back to Texas with the dream to open their own restaurant.  Like I mentioned earlier, the restaurant was built and renovated by David, himself.  Not to mention, it is named after their two children, Joshua and Isabella.

David can be found at the restaurant, circling the tables to greet his regular customers and welcoming new-comers.

The Food

The Jobell team frequents Austin establishments to source local ingredients.  They make regular visits to Antonelli’s Cheese, Johnson’s Backyard Garden, Pasta & Co, and Quality Seafood Market.

We tried a wide variety of the menu and I was blown away.  I left extremely satisfied and unbelievably full.

Here are some of the appetizers we started with!  (Most range from $10-$15, salads from $10-$11)

Gravlax | house cured salmon, wonton crisps, wasabi sriracha crema, spicy cabbage, mixed greens

Pistachio, Dried Apricot, Pork and Chicken Liver Terrine | served with house pickled beets, red onions, and toast points

I had to throw in this hilarious photo of my food blogger friends, Natalie Paramore, A Taste of Koko, and A Time to Kale.  This is how most of our dinners go.

Polenta Fries | roasted garlic and parmesan aioli

As for the main courses, the menu boasts steak frites, pastas and other hearty dishes.  Here is what we got to try!  (Most entrees range from $17-$25)

Parmesan Encrusted Pork Loin | roasted garlic béchamel, cauliflower and sweet potato mash and broccolini

Butternut Squash Risotto | with spinach and parmesan

Lobster Tail and Lump Crab over Fresh Sundried Tomato Linguine | with cherry tomatoes, asparagus and parmesan cheese.

This last entree took my breath away twice.  The first time was by sight, and the second time was post-eating.  I could barely breathe I was so full.  But how could I NOT eat it?!

The homemade noodles from Pasta & Co. had the perfect texture and were nestled with loads of lobster and crab.

I didn’t think I could fit anything else in my stomach and then… this happened.

Lavender Pound Cake | served with macerated fresh berries and whipped cream

Upon arriving, my jaw dropped and mouth was immediately salivating.  The lavender brought out a decadent and delicious twist, and the berries and whipped were all too amazing.

If I had to pick my top 3,  I would pick the Lobster Tail and Lump Crab Linguine, Polenta Fries and the Butternut Squash Risotto.  Oh, and the dessert… can I squeeze that in?

Jobell Cafe and Bistro stands out with their elegant dining experience, while maintaining a casual and friendly ambiance.  Their dishes are carefully and thoughtfully crafted, and are guaranteed to make your mouth water.

Next time you are out in Wimberley for wine tasting or a day at Blue Hole, you must stop by Jobell Cafe and Bistro.  You will not be disappointed!
